Thank you for choosing to adopt your next furry family member – we encourage you to browse our adoptable pets section! Unfortunately, we are not able to put animals on hold for you. If you’re interested in a particular animal that you see on our website, you should plan a visit to NHS as soon as possible.
Once you have met an animal who you are interested in adopting, our staff will assist you with completing an adoption application. The adoption application helps to ensure that the animal you have chosen is the best fit for you, and that you are the right match for the animal. Our goal is to find our animals loving, forever homes, so our animal care staff will review your application to ensure that it is the right fit for both parties. The long-term well-being of the animals in our care is our main concern; therefore, not all adoption requests may be successful.
Potential adopters should take their time with the selection process and are encouraged to spend as much time with the animal as possible prior to taking them home. If you are looking to adopt a dog, a meet-and-greet session will be scheduled with any other dogs that are currently part of your family to ensure compatibility.
Some of our animals receive more than one adoption application and in that case, we select the applicant who is best matched for that particular animal. Once your application is approved, an appointment will be made to adopt your new pet! Our staff will go over the adoption contract, your pet’s medical record and other important information. If you have any questions during this process please don’t hesitate to ask our staff – we are here to help you!
